I can tell I need to up the calories before I crash and start eating whole loaves of bread. This morning I did X stretch (easy right?) and had no energy. I was trying to lower calories this week since it is the recovery week, but I will make sure I eat more and include more healthy carbs today since I have to do core synergistics tomorrow.

sara--day 69
This is my recovery week but my neck/shoulders have never been so sore--from yoga? I must say, I am really improving on the yoga. I even did the crane for a few seconds and tried the wheel. But it is so long, and I have to do it twice this week. I'm looking forward to a new DVD tomorrow morning--core synergistics? Anywhoo...

vitamins: glucosamine, D, AminoMagnesium, calcium, multi, fish oil, enzyme = yuck
Another tip: make black beans like the directions on the package (dry beans). Drain and rinse. put in ziploc bags and freeze them, but shake them every 1/2 hour so the beans don't stick together. You can scoop up how many you want for recipes or to put over rice, etc.

I'm going to plan my menu for the week (now that I have some $$ for groceries) I'll post them along with any different recipes (you do it too??) maybe we can take turns doing that to give each other ideas.
Hope you're nice to Steve this weekend! Don't tell him to get out of your face and mind his own beeswax, etc. :{)

Rachel--Day 87
First of all, I can't believe we don't have any followers! I was thinking we could make some serious cash if we put some ads on the sidebar. Just think how many hits we're getting on this site!

I got some really good ideas for food to buy at Costco though:
*dry roasted soynuts (high in protein)
*Miss May's trio bar
*kashi go lean cereal
*Agave nectar (looks like syrup but its a natural sweetener--good for oatmeal, etc)
*quinoa ( yummy grain that looks kind of like round rice--way better for you than rice and has a lot of protein in it. Joel and I have been using this for a while and its really good. I usually cook it with boullion cubes)
some other tips: (we had a nutritionist come to enrichment tonight--my friend Rachele)
*the "Skinny B*#%@ Cookbook" has good recipes
*When you get home from the store, chop up ALL your veggies right away-- you'll eat them if their already prepared. Also buy different kinds of veggies--not just carrots
*cook a bunch of quinoa at the beginning of the week and use it with your lunches for the reat of the week. add beans, chicken etc. for lunch
*use beans in everything--you need 25-30 gms of fiber per day
*have fruit available and IN SIGHT (you will eat what you see--even cookies if you see them)
*sleep 7-9 hours
*64-100 oz water/day
*make sure to eat a protein snack in the afternoon munchie time--and drink lots of water. you'll feel more full and blood sugar won't spike and fall
Looking forward to waking up early tomorrow to exercise! I can't keep doing my workouts at 10:00 am--it ruins the whole day, plus, as you mentioned earlier, the zen isn't quite there with Jay sitting on my tummy during yoga.

Note: After I got off the phone last night, got 4 kids in bed, cleaned up my broken bowl and the kitchen, etc., I finally got Bridget settled down and to sleep by laying by her. I fell asleep in B's bed about 10 pm and Steve came in at 10:15 to wake me up and say he needs the van keys to pull the van in further to shut the garage. We're so stupid. We only have one set of van keys. So I got up to look for the stupid keys in an angry daize. We spent almost two hours looking for those keys. In the meantime, Steve keeps asking "are you mad at me?" "why is this my fault?" "why don't you want to talk about it?" blah blah blah!!!!! So I actually tell him to shut up and leave me alone. I finally take a flashlight into Bridget's room and find my keys in there, but wake her up in the process and end up laying by her again, but not able to sleep.
So, after a long day of exercising, visiting the elderly, cleaning, reading my scriptures, working on the computer, helping kids with piano and reading and homework and trying to do everything right, I end the day looking like the biggest jerk--evil witch wife and Steve is the confused, innocent husband who never does anything wrong. I won't see him at all today until 11 pm and I'm glad. It seems like the harder I try, the worse I feel.
There....sorry....I feel better getting that off my chest. Even yoga wasn't enlightening this morning!:-(

This is for yesterday--I was waiting for Rachel's post last night. Where are you? Yesterday I did the plyometrics. Still the hardest workout of them all, but my legs didn't give out until closer to the end. I did really well with the diet part until about 5 pm. Poor planning! I did my shoulders and arms workout already this morning but haven't done the ab ripper x yet. I'll report back tonight.

Day 76
Okay, now that I know Rachel has FINALLY started I will be better at posting, and more dedicated to eating right. I've been taking the weekends off of the diet, and I must admit that after eating a half a pan of cornbread with honeybutter and candy yesterday, I had less energy than ever this morning to do my chest and back and ab ripper x workout. Eating right really does make me feel better. So here's today's sad menu:
protein shake w/ strawberries: 190
oatmeal: 200
green beans: 50
protein bar: 240
so far so good....
whole pack of mentos while reading To Kill a Mockingbird (so good)250

odds and ends? (couple bites of cake, pizza, etc.) 400-ish?

Rachel--Day 90
What have I gotten myself into? I did the chest/Back dvd followed by Ab ripperX. YIKES! The first few ab exercised I couldn't even do because I was so tired form the other dvd--there is definitely room for improvement! I haven't done my measurements, but I'm up +20 lbs (seriously) from my goal weight. here's what I ate:
Spinach smoothie
1 hard boiled egg
tuna with celery. pickles on lettuce
1 Nobel (snowbell according to Ruby) cookie--not on the diet
handful of chips--oops
hamburger patty with wheat bun
salad
jalepeno cream cheese popper--woops again!
calories: way too many!
I'll do better tomorrow (because I won't be able to lift the food to my mouth--I'm already sore!)

Days 86-83
Day 86: Did the legs workout, but not so well on the diet. I only ate 500 calories all day, then went to Cafe Rio, then ate candy at a movie, then went to Nielson's for frozen custard. But, hey, one has to go on dates once in a while.
Day 85: Did Kenpo X with Sydney and Bridget. It wasn't very hard--almost seemed a waste of time. I pretty much took a break from the diet for the weekend.
Day 84: Rest. Ate popcorn for dinner.
Day 83: Wierd Day. Woke up early and did chest and back again. I now realize if I don't plan what I'm going to eat in the morning, it all falls apart. Here's todays not-so-p90x approved menu:
Oatmeal
2 cookies (whoops!)
cottage cheese/yougurt
power bar
1/2 bagle and cream cheese (whoops again!)
turkey burger
broccoli
progresso light soup.
Not too bad though---total calories: 1655
Too much salt though, I feel yucky.
Goodnight!

Day 87
Yoga Day. I didn't realize it was an hour and a half. Having Gabe in the room during the last part where you are supposed to concentrate and meditate was not good. But it felt good overall, though I felt like I needed to go running at the end. Anyway, I didn't really stick to my menu. With all the stress of trying to feed kids in shifts while getting Syd, Ash, and Jo to different basketball games at different times without Steve to help, I found myself eating german pancakes dipped in syrup and a few spoonfuls of ice cream:

Still the lone blogger. Today I did the arms and shoulders and ab ripper x workout. Compared to Monday and Tuesday it seemed easy. I'm also not as tired today.

turkey burger patty with bbq sauce

1 cup really fattening cheesy potato bacon soup
raw cut up veggies
total: 1585 calories.
I don't have a scale because it needs a new battery. I kind of like not worrying about weight so I think I won't get the battery.

today I woke up early and did the plyometrics--I felt like throwing up it was so hard. Now I am exhausted after a long day.
Here's what I ate:
cracked wheat
egg toast
turkey sand. w/veggies
apple
tilapia
broccoli
2 hard shell tacos
oatmeal
1600 calories.
I've been planning menus for 1800 calories but I actually run out of time to eat it all. It's funny how when you just eat healthy food it's actually difficult to eat a ton of calories. When I snack on Lindt chocolates, it's not so hard:-)
I'm really tired. Goodnight.

Day 90
Well, I'm starting, even though Rachel is sick. She can start from day 90 when she feels better. Today I did the first workout--chest and back and ab ripper x. Note to self: get up and do this before the kids wake up--you turn into the scariest wicked witch when kids disrupt you while exercising.
I also started my own version of the diet. I will stick to 1800 calories, but not with just one carb--no way.
Food log:
cracked wheat w/ br. sugar and milk: 185
Tilapia 140
broccoli 50
egg on toast: 160
apple: 100
ck. bowtie pasta all measured out: 400
baguette bread: 150
protein bar: 210
protein shake w/ banana and strawberries and spinach: 250
total: 1645
